2020 has not been a great year for us. We have been stuck in a global pandemic the whole year; that took a toll on so many people’s mental health. We pray that 2021 opens infinite doors of fulfilling opportunities, bliss, and contentment for all of us. On that note, let’s welcome the new year with new hopes and fresh headspace.

And keeping that in mind, I have come up with five jovial books that would feel like sunshine to your chilly mornings. These are the kind of books you can read even if you aren’t fond of reading in general. You can read these books when stressed, on vacation, or in a mood to read a feel-good book. I hope you’d enjoy reading them as much as I did.

Love you, love you not

If you are looking for a book to lift your mood instantly, this one is for you. Cute, cheesy, and hilarious office rom-com, written by Jo Watson. Following a series of hysterical events, when destiny makes Poppy Peterson cross paths with Ryan stark, who happens to be a grumpy CEO of a huge company. And that hot-headed boss needs the job to be done flawlessly.

And fun fact, poppy doesn’t contain any related experience in the field as well. She’s clumsy, and chaos follows her everywhere. And when these opposites are bound to be in the same room, their dynamic is a literal embodiment of chaos.

The Enchanted April

An ideal reading to boost your mood when feeling blue, by the incredible Elizabeth von Arnim. A dramatic saga revolving around four English women who are not familiar with each other in any way, decide to spend the entire April in a lavish Italian castle. They have nothing in common except all of them are looking for an escape from their unhappy lives.

In that April, they get introduced to not only new acquaintances but their real versions as well. More enlightened and enchanted. The transformative power of travel and visible energy shift is the biggest highlight of this book. Apart from that, the writer has done an excellent job describing the landscapes and visuals.

A very delightful book overall and a breath of fresh air undoubtedly.

Big Magic: Creative living beyond fear

This one is for the folks who are into self-help books. Elizabeth Gilbert created magic with this one. In this book, there’s something to relate to and seek inspiration for people of all age groups and walks of life.

This book presents an insightful approach to creativity, self-growth, and acceptance. A guide on conquering life, staying true to yourself, facing your fears, refraining from needless comparisons, and start seeing yourself from your own point of view.

The things you can see only when you slow down

Written by the famous Korean meditation teacher Haemin Sunim. As the name suggests, a relaxing and easy-going reading when you need to chill out and calm yourself a bit.

It gets overwhelming to protect your sanity in today’s fast-paced world. When the world feels prodigious, you feel small. Peace of mind and eternal happiness seem far-fetched.

This book feels like a warm hug, especially in times like these. It reflects upon mindfulness, passion, relationships, spirituality, love, life, and the future. If you are under some stress and can’t sleep at night, take a deep breath and grab this book. You have got this:)

The Bookshop on the corner

The title grabbed my attention quickly. It is a story about books, written by Jenny Colgan. Nina Redmond is all set to embark on a new journey of being a mobile bookseller after losing her librarian job.

The plot documents the challenges she has had to face in the way, followed by a series of hilarious and unpleasant adventures. Nina’s character development is one of the admirable aspects of the story. It’s a refreshing concept you won’t regret reading it:)

Happy reading:)
